Advantages: Fewer Problems with Down Time, Higher Air Pressures.

The compressor shown here is designed to boost existing plant air going to critical cylinders in the sander. Often the upper opposed contact roll back-up cylinder and upper sanding belt tension cylinder require more air pressure than the typical plant air compressors can deliver. The average air pressure in most plants is around 85 psi. If there are heavy cuts taken with the primary heads they will require more belt tension and more upper contact roll back-up air pressure to prevent the head from floating away from the cut. In addition, the demands of faster feed speeds puts more load on the various heads, which in turn requires the need for higher air pressures. Both of these locations can require air pressures in excess of 110 psi for the more demanding applications.

Kimwood recommends that those experiencing these types of demands install the Air Compressor Retrofit. This compressor is connected to plant air for its major supply, and boosts the plant air to 120psi easily, or whatever level is needed to supply the sander. This Air Compressor includes a 30 gallon tank, to ensure even consistent air pressure at all times. With cast iron construction and oversize taper roller bearings, the Air Compressor Retrofit is built to withstand heavy use, industrial applications.
