Our Industrial Journey
1950–1956 | Foundation
Founded in 1950 and incorporated in 1951 by Carlton Woodard and family, we began as a maintenance shop for the W.A. Woodard Lumber Company. The team started with just 6 employees in a 16,000 sq. ft. facility, supporting sawmills, kilns, and plywood operations.
1957–1962 | Transformation
After the sale of the lumber company in 1957, we shifted from a service shop to a proprietary manufacturer, setting the stage for long-term innovation.
1963-2018 | Global Expansion
In 1963, we secured patents for high-speed sanding and handling systems and delivered its first major innovations, including a multiple-head plywood sander for Weyerhaeuser and international installations in Venezuela. During this time, Kimwood added additional product lines to their arsinal. Ferrari Resaws (1971), Tri-State (1972), Stetson-Ross planers (1982), and Kimwood hogs (1990’s).
2018 - PRESENT
As the original founders of Kimwood decided it was time to retire, they sold the company to like-minded people in the industry. Kimwood was acquired by Progressive Mill Supplies Holding out of Surrey BC in September 2018. This has been a great move for the company and the employees. As a company, we strive to continue to provide precision parts and service to our customers.
